Regrets:

Current Activites:

  • Save for next time - Discuss: how to talk to an org about using DDI and keeping costs low

    • it’s expensive but saves money in the long run

    • for ddi-L the tools are limited

  • Idea to have a separate meeting to talk about how we all use Colectica

  • Currently working on:

  1. Concepts deck - new version June 27 - please review and send feedback via email

  2. Unit type slide deck version Nov 22, 2022 - Kaia updated this deck recently; group should review newest version - reviewing this deck together; Dan recorded feedback in comments

    1. https://ddialliance.github.io/ddimodel-web/DDI-L-3.3/item-types/Universe/?highlight=universe - add to slide 11?

    2. https://ddialliance.github.io/ddimodel-web/DDI-L-3.2/item-types/Universe/?highlight=universe

    3. https://ddialliance.org/Specification/DDI-Codebook/2.5/XMLSchema/field_level_documentation.html - codebook

    4. old page style: https://ddialliance.org/Specification/DDI-Codebook/2.5/XMLSchema/

  3. DDI_for_researchers_and_data_managers - new version with slide 21 change - await slide group feedback

    1. Feedback received: might be still to abstract for some people; the term machine actionability is not well known. Maybe this can be an idea for future slides to also give an idea/example what this term means and what kind of benefit the research community can get if all research data is machine actionable, meaning also semantically interoperable. This would allow for automated data merging/linking for example which is very time consuming if it cannot be done automatically.

This is about the future vision of (social) science which will be more and more computer and data science driven.

  4. DDITL_12_1_0_Data_Quality_Webinar - no updates

  5. Understanding metadata deck - Hayley will check for final edits

  6. How_to_use_the_DDI_Training_Materials slide deck - Cat reviewed and provided feedback: we probably don’t need page 11 about the DDI logo as it’s already covered on page 6

    1. Discuss as a group: we should consider having a (google) document or page for suggested slide decks to be used together instead of in the slide deck to avoid version issues

  7. Implementing fair with DDI - awaiting Training Group review and feedback - no feedback - resharing with TG and tech committee

    1. Jon reviewed it and there might be some content that could be used on the DDI site; also said it was long

  8. Outstanding slide decks and actions:

  1. Programmer’s Intro to DDI - Dan, Arofan - on hold for now

    1. Older technical slide deck examples: Gesis box https://gesisbox.gesis.org/index.php/s/78pzrRYYxCgFSfw?path=%2F DDI_OldTechSlides.zip.

      1. Ensure that these are used when more technical/detailed slide decks are produced.

    2. Maybe there will be hackathon content we can use - KL emailed Ingo about intro content

  2. Questions and questionnaires slide deck - part of Training Fair for EDDI - low priority at this time

    1. Hayley has a newer version from when she presented; will share when we finish the other slides
