About Dagstuhl
The workshop will take place at the Leibniz Center for Informatics, Schloss Dagstuhl, Wadern, Germany. The non-profit center is a member of the Leibniz Association and is funded jointly by the German federal government and a number of state governments.
The venue provides an intense working atmosphere in a relaxing environment. It is located in a remote region in Saarland near the small town Wadern. Dagstuhl offers several seminar rooms and a cafeteria in addition to leisure rooms open during the evening, including a wine bar, billiard room, music room, reading room, table tennis, sauna, etc., all of which provide opportunities for intense discussion and communication.
The center is divided in two buildings - the old Schloss Dagstuhl and the modern section with participant rooms in the center.

Arrival Information
Arriving from Frankfurt Airport
Coming from Frankfurt Airport it is strongly recommended to take a combination of train and taxi. The trip requires approx. 2.5 hours altogether. Take the direct train (34.60 Euro) from Frankfurt Airport (“Frankfurt(M) Flughafen Regionalbf”, regional train station) to Türkismühle (direction “Saarbrücken Hbf”). Tickets can be bought at the train station in the airport or on-line. It isn't possible to purchase tickets on the trains. Please note that Frankfurt airport has two train stations: the regional train station ("Frankfurt(M) Flughafen Regionalbf") and the long-distance train station ("Frankfurt(M) Flughafen Fernbf"). Take a taxi from Türkismühle to Dagstuhl (55 Euro). Make arrangements for the taxi at least three days in advance (further rates and contact details). The taxi company tries to organize shared rides with lower costs. Payment for the taxi is only possible in cash (in Euro). The participants list will be distributed two weeks before the workshop. People can then make contact to possibly share cabs or rental cars.
See the timetable from Frankfurt airport to Türkismühle with direct train connections for September 24, 2023.
If you are familiar with public transport systems, don't mind waiting for the bus (waiting time of approx. 2 hours in St. Wendel), and would like to avoid the taxi fee, you can take this connection (train 34.60 Euro to St. Wendel, bus 8.00 Euro to Wadern). The bus ticket is available at the bus station or at the driver. See the website of the Deutsche Bahn for train and bus schedules. Use "Frankfurt(M) Flughafen Regionalbf" for Frankfurt Airport as start (station/stop) and "Wadern, Oktavie-Allee 1" for Dagstuhl as destination (address). Please make sure that you get into the correct bus (R2, direction Wadern ZOB) in St. Wendel. The bus driver stops on demand at the Dagstuhl institute. Then you can avoid the walk from the bus stop “Bahnhofstr. Dagstuhl, Wadern” to Dagstuhl (map).

If you want to walk from the bus stop in Wadern to Dagstuhl at night, you should take a flashlight with you.

Accomodation and Check-in
Accommodation
We take care for accommodation. Rooms are already reserved. All rooms have private baths. Accommodation cost at Dagstuhl including full board is 420 Euro for 5 days (this rate is subsidized by the Dagstuhl institute). Food, coffee, tea, and water are included in the accommodation rate. Several double rooms are available so that partners can be brought to Dagstuhl. Additional costs would apply.
Check-in
Check-in takes place on Sundays, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Some people will arrive after hours. They can do a self-service check-in (starting from 9:00 am), see instructions below. A door code (see below) will be required. Please note that there is a light dinner at 6 pm on the arrival day. The check-in counter is located in the new building. The entrance is located on the road between the old and new building under the pedestrian bridge near the marker on this map.
The door code will be communicated before the workshop via the Dagstuhl registration system DOOR, for which you will still receive information. You will need this code to open the main entry doors to the Dagstuhl buildings. The code is valid during the whole week.
The workshop identity badge provided to the participants must be worn all times in the Dagstuhl buildings.
Instructions for self-service check-in
Near the reception in the newer main building you can log into the Self-Service Check-In terminal opposite the main entrance with your DOOR credentials:
The terminal will show you your room's number.
Take a blank keycard and authorise it for your room using the terminal. This keycard will then allow you to access your room and to enter the center's buildings.
Please pick up the ‘additional costs’ leaflet. It will contain a plan of the building and further important information. You might want to write down your room number on this leaflet.
Additional information is available on the Dagstuhl page on 'Planning Your Visit' in the section 'Planning Your Visit / Booking and Registration / Other Events'
Payment
The event fees (420 Euro) include overnight accommodation and full board. More information is available on the Dagstuhl page on expenses.
The final accounting for expenses in Dagstuhl is prepared one day before the guest leaves the center. That would be for accommodation costs and the personal expenses like beverages and phone costs. These costs must be paid to the Dagstuhl institute. Each guest is expected to write down these expenses on the expense sheet handed out upon arriving at the Center and to pay for them with the final bill. Visa, MasterCard, and Maestro cards are accepted at Dagstuhl.
