October 25, 2022 Slide Review Group

Currently working on:
- Implementing fair with DDI slide deck as a group (DDI_FAIR_Webinar_to_training_aug31_2022)
  - ICPSR’s recent presentation could be helpful in this area: "Metadata & Preservation activities at ICPSR to make our data FAIR and TRUSTworthy" Deep Blue DOI: Metadata & Preservation activities at ICPSR to make our data FAIR and TRUSTworthy
  - Dan, Catharina, and Hayley met to work on FAIR deck; focus more on how to FAIRify your data in deck
    - updates: intro to FAIR; Why metadata is important in FAIR; instead of architecture of FAIR focus on the principles and how they can help people; removed quite a bit
    - Each of them has taken a letter to focus on each letter and the principles; meeting again next month
    - Talk about FAIR with respect to DDI
- Kathryn updated 2/5 slide decks with feedback (Training Group Feedback April/May 2022)
  - We should make it a practice to specify the audience of the slides - general or specific, broad or detailed, etc. - Kathryn will add a slide to these and send out new versions
- Kaia updated the unit type slide deck - new version Oct 25
  - Kathryn will add last changes and send out new version
  - If there are any decisions not finalized we can take them to the working group chairs; if final, send to scientific board (2 months to review); then slide group publishes on zenodo
- Dan working on Concepts deck - no updates for now
- Understanding metadata deck - updates pending; Dan will take this task
- Discuss translation priorities for slide decks; Alina has volunteers to translate slides to French
- Hayley sent out a draft of the How_to_use_the_DDI_Training_Materials slide deck for us to review

Programmer’s Intro to DDI - Dan
1. Arofan will look at older technical slide deck examples to see what can be used and will consult with Achim. Arofan added slides to the Gesis box Review WG DDI_OldTechSlides.zip. Next step is to ensure that these are used when more technical/detailed slide decks are produced.

Reminder: Kathryn can’t make it to the Nov. 1 Training Group meeting - can anyone do the report out for our group that day?
Next meeting is Nov 22 to avoid conflict with EDDI
Notes about slide process:
- Sub-WG shares slide decks with the whole WG and the TC chairs (1 month).
- Sub-WG makes updates to the slide decks where necessary or provides comments to feedback if not necessary.
- Sub-WG decides when the slide decks are final. WG chairs make any final decisions if they cannot be resolved. Feedback and resolution will be documented
- WG chairs submit the slide decks to the SB for approval (2 months).
- SB provides sign-off before Sub-WG adds the slide decks to Zenodo for publication.
