March 28, 2023 slide group meeting

  • Welcome new members! Carol, Cat (Catherine)

  • Catharina welcomes suggestions on how to talk to an org about using DDI and keeping costs low

  • Currently working on:

  1. Concepts deck - updates: newest March 6 version; Dan making further changes; why do we need to know about the different concepts in different parts of a dataset, even when they are not related in use? Categories as concepts are confusing if the practical use doesnt change. Maybe add some info about concepts use and role in DDI. Concepts and subconcepts are also important/how to implement a concept system (narrow vs broad). There is a massive slide deck which covers this same content but it was broken up which led us here. Ultimately a part 1 and part 2 might be needed with concepts and concepts systems as part 2.

  2. Unit type slide deck version Nov 22, 2022 - updates: KL needs to review HM’s comments

  3. DDI_for_researchers_and_data_managers - updates: KL sent out new/final version March 17; please approve or send feedback so we can finalize

  4. DDITL_12_1_0_Data_Quality_Webinar - no updates: still waiting to finalize

  5. Understanding metadata deck - updates: still waiting to finalize

    1. Dan presented this material and got good feedback

  6. How_to_use_the_DDI_Training_Materials slide deck - Nov 22 2022 version - this can be sent to WG, hopefully in May - make a decision about this in the April meeting

  7. Implementing fair with DDI - updates - new March 9 version; Kaia and Kathryn provided feedback

  • Outstanding slide decks and actions:

  1. Programmer’s Intro to DDI - Dan, Arofan - on hold for now

    1. Older technical slide deck examples: Gesis box Review WG DDI_OldTechSlides.zip.

      1. Ensure that these are used when more technical/detailed slide decks are produced.

    2. Maybe there will be hackathon content we can use - KL emailed Ingo about intro content

  2. Questions and questionnaires slide deck - Hayley (part of Training Fair for EDDI) - low priority at this time

    1. Hayley has a newer version from when she presented; will share when we finish the other slides
